Oatmeal with blueberries, coconut oil and a splash of maple syrup is one of our favourite breakfasts. However, it can get old and we can get lazy. So, the other morning we thought why not throw all ingredients in a blender and make a blueberry oatmeal smoothie?!
Oats not necessarily have to be cooked to be edible. We recommend buying organic oats to avoid their exposure to RoundUp, a carcinogenic pesticide. Oats may not have been sprayed with glyphosate while growing but rather for harvesting. Yep, you heard it right. Stay safe with organic oats.
Blueberries are an antioxidant powerhouse. They are affordable even throughout winter months. Look for organic frozen blueberries in Costco and many other grocery stores. Costco offers the best deal, as always.
And do not worry about blending solid coconut oil with other ingredients. It will blend after 3-4 minutes and add some amazing anti-inflammatory qualities to your blueberry oatmeal smoothie.
